The Berkshire Association for Behavior Analysis and Therapy
sponsors one of the oldest and most respected behavior analysis conferences in
the nation. At our 32nd
annual conference (October 13-14, 2011), we set a new attendance record, with
900 attendees. We received a record
number of submissions, and had a record number of invited speakers (22)! Highlights of the conference included keynote
addresses by Brian Iwata, Jim Carr, Pat Friman, Ed Morris, and Mark
Sundberg. In addition, Charlie Catania
provided a wonderful and insightful introduction for Nate Azrin, who received
the 7th annual Murray Sidman Award for Enduring Contribution to
Behavior Analysis. Lauren Beaulieu
(Western New England University; Greg Hanley, advisor) was awarded $1,000 (plus
conference expenses) as the winner of the 4th annual BABAT student paper
competition. Additionally, the B. F.
Skinner Foundation sponsored a student poster competition with a $500
award. The competition was judged by
Claire St. Peter and Mark Sundburg, with Jessica Seaver (New England Center for
Children; Jason Bourret, advisor) winning the competition.
