Volunteer Opportunities

Babat is a member run organization. Many of our members choose to provide service to their profession by volunteering for their state professional organization at some point in their career. We have many ways for Babat members to volunteer their time and serve their behavior analytic community in Massachusetts.

1. Special Project List: For those interested in supporting BABAT, but unable to make a monthly time commitment, our special project list may be a great fit. By signing up to be on our Special Projects List, we will reach out when we have a project we need help with. Projects require 3 or less hours of support. If a project comes up that interests you, and you have the time to support, you can claim the task If not, no worries. Maybe next time!

2. Committee Support: For those interested in joining a committee, we ask for a 2 year commitment, with about 3-5 hours per month. All committee members are led by a Committee Chair who also serves as a Director on our Board of Directors. Some committees have an assistant director, who also serves as a member of our board of directors. Committee members spend their time attending a regular committee meeting (virtually) and moving forward initiatives for the committee.

  • Professional Practice Committee: This is the advocacy arm of BABAT. This group leads the charge in monitoring and advocating for behavior analysis in Massachusetts with legislators, regulators, and other important stakeholders. This group works closely, and maintains positive collaborative relationships, with other advocacy groups and leaders. The PPC also works to educate and inform BABAT members on professional issues that affect our practice, research, and scholarship in Massachusetts.
  • Events Committee: This committee is in charge of planning our annual events. From our webinar series, our Educational Enrichment Series of half-day conferences, and our BABAT Social and Networking Event, to our esteemed annual BABAT Conference held at the DCU Center in Worcester. This committee works to ensure BABAT members and friends are connecting, networking, and accessing high quality, cutting edge, and current topics in behavior analysis.
  • Professional Recognition Committee: Massachusetts behavior analysts contribute significantly to the advancement of our field. This committee helps provide earned recognition on behalf of our members and honors the contributions of researchers, teachers, and practitioners through acknowledgements and awards.
  • Business Partnerships Committee: This committee works with businesses to help them support BABAT and to help relevant businesses connect with our membership. We offer an annual prospectus that provides businesses with a variety of creative ways to engage with and support BABAT.

Updates, content of interest, and behavior analytic news is also shared through social media, the BABAT website, communication platforms, and through email blasts.
  • Membership Committee: This committee works to enhance member value, grow our community, and connect members with perks and benefits. BABAT is always working to provide more support and resources for our members. With over 2200 members, this committee works hard to enhance our feeling of community.
  • Student Relations Committee: As a community, we want to ensure that new behavior analysts are receiving extra support, resources, guidance, and career development help. We also want to show them how exciting and cool the field is and ensure that they feel like a valued member of our Massachusetts Behavior Analyst Community from the very start. The committee plans special seminars, VIP meet-and-greets, conference tracks, student resources, and more.
  • Volunteer Coordination Committee: BABAT couldn’t be the professional organization we are without our volunteers. Members of our board, Committee Directors, Assistant Directors, and Committee Members all volunteer their time to build our amazing community. Service to our field is an important professional duty and this committee works to connect MA behavior analysts with fun, exciting, and rewarding ways to provide service through BABAT.

3. Volunteer on the Board of Directors: Watch for election opportunities and open board positions in our monthly memo and BABAT communications. We always recommend starting your involvement with BABAT as a committee member or advisory group member.
